Coming Home: How Love, Renovation, and the Enneagram Changed Everything: A Personal Update from Cathy of Inner Nature Coaching

Hi friend — I’m so glad you’re here. It’s been a while since I’ve shared something personal, and today, I’m excited to open the door (literally and figuratively) to a new chapter in life and business.

This past year has been a whirlwind of change, love, and transformation. In November, I got engaged to the love of my life, and in the months that followed, we undertook a major renovation and moved into our first home together. From December to April, we lived in a temporary apartment while the renovation was underway—navigating dust, design decisions, and all the emotional layers that come with co-creating a space and a future.

Now that the dust has settled—quite literally—we’re beginning to experience the joy of slow mornings, shared meals, and just being present in a space we built together. And as someone who teaches embodiment, breathwork, and the Enneagram, I can tell you: this season has been a masterclass in walking the walk.

Our three pets—Baci, Bisou, and Arizona—have adjusted beautifully to their new home and are loving the backyard. Watching them birdwatch, explore, and enjoy the outdoor space has brought us even more gratitude for this transition.

Here’s what we learned (and practiced!) during this wild season:

  • Breathwork is a lifeline. Renovation stress, timelines, decisions, and daily logistics can quickly pull us out of our bodies. Grounding breath—like box breathing or heart-centered inhales—became a daily ritual. Especially when tension ran high, breath was our return.

  • The Enneagram is a relationship map. We used the knowledge of our types to better understand how each of us processes change, handles conflict, and needs to feel supported. This gave us language for compassion and made space for fewer assumptions and more clarity.

  • Somatic awareness kept us connected. When one of us was cranky or withdrawn, gentle somatic check-ins helped bring us back to presence. Sometimes a hand on the heart, a walk around the block, or a simple question, "What’s happening in your body right now?" was what was needed to release the tension we were feeling and to re-inspire confidence in the somatic tools that can help calm the chaos and get us back on track.

The biggest takeaway? Growth isn’t a grand gesture—it’s a million tiny moments where we choose presence over perfection. We breathe through the chaos. We get curious about each other. We notice. We repair. We rest.

As I return to sharing here more consistently, I’ll be starting a new blog series that blends personal stories with practical tools from the somatic and Enneagram world. I hope these reflections inspire you to pause, breathe, and connect with your own inner nature.

Here’s what you can look forward to in the coming weeks:

  • Navigating big transitions with your nervous system in mind

  • Using Enneagram insights to deepen intimacy in relationships

  • Somatic grounding practices for overwhelm and decision fatigue

Whether you’re moving into a new home, a new season, or simply ready to reconnect to yourself—I’m right there with you.

With love and breath, Cathy
